Alex Foxwell, Ph.D.

Dr. Foxwell is a licensed psychologist with over 10 years of experience in providing individual therapy interventions for adolescents and adults. She has expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for depression, suicide prevention, generalized anxiety, performance/test anxiety, OCD, and other emotional difficulties. Additionally, she has had intensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for managing emotion dysregulation and interpersonal effectiveness. Dr. Foxwell has extensive experience in working with individuals in high-pressure work and academic environments, working together with them to build tools that can help manage stress and anxiety, and increase quality of life. Dr. Foxwell also has expertise in consultation to families and parents of those affected by emotional and behavioral challenges.

Dr. Foxwell received her doctoral degree and internship training from the APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the Child and Adolescent Research Program at Children’s Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is the Associate Director of Clinical Training in the Doctoral Program and Internship in Clinical Psychology at UT Southwestern. She is the co-author of the evidence-based treatment book CBT for Depression in Children and Adolescents: A Guide to Relapse Prevention. Dr. Foxwell is involved in national and local/regional psychological associations and is a former president of the Dallas Psychological Association.
